Draft — to be reviewed by counsel before launch

Terms of service and privacy notice

Edge LAW prepares documents and gives legal information. Not a substitute for legal advice in a dispute.

Terms of service (draft)

1. What Edge LAW does

Edge LAW prepares income tax return documents for individuals in Bangladesh from the documents and answers you give us, and provides general legal information.

Your tax is computed by a deterministic rules engine from facts you have confirmed, using rule files drafted from the law and published with their sources. Artificial intelligence (AI) is used only to read documents, ask questions and explain the result in plain language; it never decides a figure.

Nothing is final until it has been reviewed and approved, by a registered Income Tax Practitioner (ITP) or advocate or by an Edge LAW administrator. When an administrator approves it, the document says it is not certified by a registered practitioner.

2. What we do not do

We do not submit your return to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for you; you receive a review-ready return pack to submit yourself.

We do not provide representation, litigation strategy, or advice in a dispute, appeal or audit. If your matter needs that, we will tell you and can refer you to a lawyer.

3. Your responsibilities

You confirm that the facts you give and confirm are true and complete to the best of your knowledge. The computation is only as accurate as those facts.

Keep your mobile number and one-time codes private. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account.

4. Price and payment

The price is shown before you start. You pay only after a practitioner has approved your return. Payments are made through bKash, Nagad or SSLCommerz; we never see your card number or wallet PIN.

5. Legal chat

The legal chat gives general information drawn from the law, with the Act and section cited. It is not advice on your own figures or your own case.

Privacy notice (draft)

1. What we collect

Your mobile number or e-mail, name and language; the documents you upload; your answers; and, if you give them, your TIN and NID. TIN and NID are encrypted and only the last four digits are ever shown.

2. Why we use it

Only to prepare and review your return, to provide the services you ask for, to meet legal record-keeping duties, and — if you agree — to send tax-season reminders.

Documents are read by an AI model to extract facts; we send it no more personal information than the document already contains.

3. Who sees it

The practitioner assigned to your return, and staff who need it to run the service. A marketplace lawyer sees a brief of your case only if you agree, for that booking.

4. How long we keep it

Case documents are kept for six years (the assessment window) and then deleted on a schedule.

5. Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion from your profile page. Some records must be kept by law; we will tell you which.
